The African Development Bank Group will hold its 2024 Annual Meetings at the Kenyatta International Conference Center in Nairobi, from 27 to 31 May. Up to 3,000 delegates, including African heads of state, ministers, central bank governors, members of the development community, the private sector, and other stakeholders will attend.
This year's theme is "Africa's Transformation, the African Development Bank Group, and the Reform of the Global Financial Architecture."
To meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, Africa needs about US$1.3 trillion yearly. This requires an urgent reform of the global financial architecture to bridge the financing gap- which is expected to widen as Africa's population grows rapidly. The upcoming Annual Meetings, celebrating the African Development Bank's 60th anniversary, aim to propose concrete steps to mobilize resources for Africa's structural transformation and to discuss the reform of the international financial system for better support of Africa's development needs.
High-level discussions will include reforming global financial architecture, the Bank's vision at 60, and strategies for financing Africa's transformation amidst global financial changes, with a focus on leveraging natural capital for economic productivity.
The African Development Bank Group will also unveil this year's African Economic Outlook, a flagship annual report that provides policymakers with comprehensive analysis and forecasts of the economic performance of African countries, as well as key emerging issues relevant to Africa's development. These include climate change, private sector development, and innovation.
