The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Invest in Africa will jointly launch the "Strengthening Women, Youth and People with Disabilities Micro Entrepreneurship for Green Jobs in Natural Resources" project, or MicroGREEN, on Thursday, 2 May 2024. The hybrid event will be held at the African Development Bank Ghana Country Office in Accra and will also be accessible via Zoom from 09:30 to 12:00 GMT.

The project aims to foster inclusive economic growth by providing up to 500 green job opportunities and business development services to marginalized groups in Ghana and Senegal.

The African Development Bank, through its Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund, recently approved a $999,000 grant to support the MicroGREEN project.

The project, to be implemented over two years, will offer entrepreneurship capacity building and business skills to at least 1,000 youth aged 15-35 years, with the beneficiary targets of 60% young women, 10% persons with disabilities or special needs, and 30% other youth, in both countries.

By focusing on capacity building and utilizing value chain-based small and medium enterprise development models, the project seeks to enhance employment creation, ensure the sustainability of micro enterprises, and integrate beneficiaries into the economic systems.

Invest in Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering African small and medium enterprise growth and creating prosperous economies across the continent, will implement the MicroGREEN project. Invest in Africa will leverage its expertise in market access, skills development, and access to finance to drive sustainable business growth and job creation in Ghana and Senegal to ensure the success of the AfDB-supported program.
