Angolan Head of State Returns to Country After Two Weeks Working Abroad

Luanda — The Head of State, João Lourenço, returned to Luanda on Wednesday after a 2-week working visit that took him to Portugal, South Korea and the United States of America.

In Portugal, João Lourenço took part in the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April (Carnation Revolution), as well as meetings with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and the former Prime Minister, António Costa.

He then made a state visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), with a programme in Seoul that included talks with his counterpart, President Yoon Suk-Yeol.

He ended his tour in the US city of Dallas, where he spoke at the opening of the 16th US-Africa Business Summit and took part in two high-level debates on infrastructure in Africa and the continent's energy future.

In Dallas, the Angolan statesman took part in the signing of three agreements totalling USD 1.3 billion in funding for Angola.

This amount will go towards the construction of a solar power plant, the erection of 186 metal bridges and the expansion of the national radio station in Angola (RNA).

During his trip, President Lourenço was accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.

On his return to Luanda, at the airport, the Head of State received greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and other official entities, such as Ministers of State, Ministers and the Provincial Governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem. ART/MRA/DOJ
