Uganda: Col Nakalema Happy With Effectiveness of Portal to Protect Investors From Corruption

The head of the State House Investors Protection Unit Col Edith Nakalema has highlighted the effectiveness of the electronic investors protection portal that was commissioned by President Museveni last year.

Nakalema says the portal has reduced cases of investors falling prey to fraudsters conducting business in an inappropriate manner.

" We have so for received 271 complaints from the portal and 263 have been effectively resolved through coordination. Out of 271 investors' complaints, 100 were from foreign investors and 171 from domestic investors," Col Nakalema said.

Emek Basak Eker, Uganda's honorary consul to (Antalya)Turkey commended the portal and showed interest in mobilising Turkish to investors to Uganda.

"I want to thank Col.Edith Nakalema for leading the unit that has enabled investors to know about the business conducive environment in Uganda.

I have seen the portal and our investors do not need another party to know how to invest or raise queries," Emek said.

Andrew Mwenda, a domestic investor applauded government for leveraging technology and to meet investors' meets in a not fully organized economy.

He further thanked Col Edith Nakalema for her unwavering and unmatched effort towards shaping Uganda's needy investment landscape.
