Uganda: NRM's Namayanja Asks Busoga to Embrace Govt Programs to Fight Poverty

The deputy secretary general of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Rose Namayanja Nsereko has rallied Busoga to embrace every government program

Namayanja was presiding over the fundraising for the construction of Busalamu Seventh Day Adventist church at Butondolo village, Busalamu town council in Luuka district where she donated shs2m and 100 bags of cement to support the work of God.

"Embrace PDM and other programmes of the government and it has never happened in any African country where the government can take money up to the grassroots. The shs1 million can be a good startup for anyone because it targets the 39% Ugandans who are not in the money economy," she said.

She also called upon people to avoid corruption tendencies in government programmes by following the right procedures to get the money .

"If you are to get shs1m, then why do you sign for a million and they give you less," Namayanja questioned.

Namayanja who was on the invitation of the head protocol department at NRM national secretariat Kyambogo and also Luuka South MP hopeful Don Vincent Bwana also urged parents to educate their children and avoid involving them in child labour like sugarcane cutting.

She says it is the only gift any parent can give to a child.

"I call upon all parents to educate your children because it is the only wealth you can give to your child. What you leave with children doesn't matter but what you put in them is what makes sense and please don't engage these children in cutting sugarcane for money," Namayanja said.

At the function close to shs5 million was raised.

Luuka Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Ronald Katende Kinene reported to Namayanja about the good performance of the PDM programme in the district after disbursing over shs6.88billion to 64 SACCOs .

He said they also have an application that will monitor PDM funds across the country was launched and piloted in the district .

He also confirmed that Walugogo-Luuka-Kamuli road will be worked on with tarmac, saying the contractors who are going to work on it have a good track record.

"We have some challenges and one of them is the road, but the good news which cannot be doubted is that the road will be tarmacked. I very well know the contractors who were given the work and I can testify after working on Nyendo-Mukakata road in Masaka, which is one of the good roads Uganda has done."
