Zimbabwe: Zim U-19 Cruise to Victory

BELOVED Biza continued with her fine form with the bat as her second half-century of the series helped secure a comfortable 103-run victory for Zimbabwe Under-19 cricket team over their Namibian counterparts yesterday.

Biza scored 73 runs off 73 balls, her second consecutive half-century of the bilateral series between the two nations.

Biza had scored 62 runs in the opening match on Monday.

After winning the toss, Namibia sent Zimbabwe to bat first and the visitors raced to 146 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Biza top scored for the Young Lady Chevrons, while captain Kelis Ndlovhu scored 21 runs off 19 balls.

The opening pair of Ndlovhu and Biza gave Zimbabwe solid start to the innings as they posted a partnership of 68 runs before Ndlovhu was dismissed at the start of the 10th over.

Passionate Munorwei had an unbeaten 15 runs while Runyararo Pasipanodya and Lorraine Pemhiwa scored three runs each.

Christina Mutasa was dismissed for a duck to cap off a day of mixed fortunes for Zimbabwe.

Namibia were wasteful in their bowling giving out 31 runs as extras.

Out to defend a total of 146 runs, the Young Lady Chevrons started off their bowling innings on high as they claimed the first wicket in the third over when Chipo Moyo bowled out Estelle Van Der Merwe.

Three overs later Moyo was at it again as she bagging her second wicket of the day, bowling out Mekelaye Mwatile this time.

By the time the hosts reached half-mark of their innings, they had already lost eight wickets and were later bundled for 43 runs inside 13 overs.

Ndlovhu starred with the ball as she took a fiver to finish up with five wickets for four runs while Moyo claimed two wickets for 16 runs. Biza and Olinda Chare each claimed a wicket apiece.
