CFAO Mobility Uganda has unveiled the Land Cruiser Prado "250 series", its latest Land Cruiser lineup.
The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's most-selling brands and Edwin Muhumuza, CFAO Mobility country sales manager, says the "250 series" comes with the same renowned reliability, durability and off-road prowess.
The "250 series" is available in two versions: the limited First Edition, featuring retro-inspired circular headlights, and the Standard Edition, which boasts square headlights.
"We're confident that what we're unveiling today will not disappoint and will uphold the legacy of the Land Cruiser. The design was inspired by the theme 'back to the roots,' blending heritage with modernity. The Land Cruiser is synonymous with durability and off-road performance, and Toyota remains committed to preserving these qualities while recognizing customers' evolving expectations," Muhumuza stated at the launch event in Lugogo last week.
One of the standout features of the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel Land Cruiser Prado 250 series is its modular design. This design involves assembling independent car blocks to form the exterior frame, simplifying maintenance and replacement.
"Toyota has adopted a split construction approach, allowing for the replacement of specific components rather than entire sections. For instance, if the bumper is damaged, you can now replace just the affected portion, significantly reducing repair and maintenance costs," added Muhumuza.
The vehicle is equipped with comprehensive safety features, including curtain shield airbags for the driver and all passengers, head, side, and knee airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), downhill assist control (DAC), and a stabilizer disconnect mechanism.
Addressing concerns about the perceived "weak bodies" of newer vehicles compared to older models, Muhumuza explained that the global automobile industry has shifted its focus towards enhancing vehicle performance and safety for drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
"If you have a crash, it is important that the body of the vehicle is able to crumple and that is why we build what we call crumple zones. Why that is important? Because if it doesn't crumple on the knock and doesn't absorb the impact of an accident, that entire energy is passed onto you the driver, the passengers and that results in higher fatality rates," he explained.
The Land Cruiser Prado 250 series is priced between Shs 315 million and Shs 380 million, depending on the model. Muhumuza announced that all vehicles purchased from CFAO this year come with a complimentary service package for five years or 100,000km. Additionally, CFAO Mobility Uganda has partnered with banks such as Absa and Stanbic to offer 100% financing for the Land Cruiser Prado "250 series" purchases.
