Mubende is currently under the leadership of Al Hajji Lule Umar Mawiya as RDC, with Abubaker Birungi serving as his deputy.
Following a recent reshuffle by President Yoweri Museveni, the people of Mubende district have expressed appreciation for the work done by the Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC).
Many locals believe that most of their challenges, particularly those related to land issues, have been addressed under the current RDC leadership.
Mubende is currently under the leadership of Al Hajj Umar Lule Mawiya as RDC, with Abubaker Birungi serving as his deputy.
Both officials were retained in Mubende after the reshuffle, a decision that has been well received by the community.
According to residents, the duo's performance has surpassed expectations, especially when compared to previous RDCs assigned to Mubende.
Vincent Tumusiime Kissanja, a local resident, praised the RDCs, stating, "The RDCs, both Mawiya and Birungi, are really doing well, and we thank the President for not transferring them because we still need them."
Kissanja added that the two officials have been instrumental in resolving land disputes, which have long plagued the district.
He noted, "In the past, we couldn't go a year without evictions. But ever since they came to Mubende, we have seen them engaging in land matters and resolving them."
Sarah Bukuliisa, another resident, credited the RDC's office for standing firm on land issues, despite political pressure from local leaders.
"We have seen RDC Mawiya disagree with top leaders in the district who seem to gain support from locals without considering legal processes," she said.
Bukuliisa also expressed gratitude to the President for reappointing the duo and urged them to continue serving the people of Mubende without succumbing to political influence.
"We thank the President for reappointing both RDCs because they have truly served beyond expectations, and we are confident they will continue working hard," she added.
In an interview with the Nile Post, Deputy RDC Abubaker Birungi thanked the people of Mubende for their cooperation, which he said has enabled the RDCs to effectively serve the community.
Birungi emphasized the importance of residents continuing to report their issues, stressing that the primary purpose of the RDCs' appointment is to serve the community.
He also called on political leaders to embrace teamwork, highlighting that it is the key to ensuring that the people of Mubende benefit from the NRM government.
He urged leaders to avoid internal conflicts, stating, "If we work together, our people benefit a lot, but it is unfortunate that some leaders don't want teamwork."
Birungi assured the residents of Mubende that land evictions would be a thing of the past.
He reiterated that the President had specifically appointed the current RDCs to resolve land-related matters.
"The President emphasized that all RDCs should resolve land-related matters, and we have to implement what we have been instructed to do," Birungi concluded.
