WHAT: Three in-person events on the sidelines of the Africa Food Systems Forum Annual Summit:

Event 1 - Innovate, Accelerate and Scale: Delivering food systems transformation in a digital and climate era

Event 2 - Investing in fertilizer and soil health

Event 3 - Advancing the Food Systems for Africa through the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) and the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS)

WHERE: Kigali Convention Center, Room AD12, Kigali, Rwanda

On the margins of the Africa Food Systems Summit 2024, the African Development Bank Group will be hosting three side events on Monday, September 2nd in Kigali, Rwanda.

The events are organized in partnership with the Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism, the African Union Commission, the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Development (AUDA-NEPAD), AGRA, and the U.S. State Department's Special Envoy for Global Food Security.

EVENTS' AGENDA:

Side Event 1: Innovate, Accelerate and Scale: Delivering food systems transformation in a digital and climate era

Time: 11:45 - 12:45

Will bring together representatives from governments, the private sector, multilateral organizations, development partners, civil society, and researchers to discuss priorities, alignment of investment projects and mobilization of financing for the Country Food and Agriculture Delivery Compacts.

Side Event 2: Investing in fertilizer and soil health

Time: 13:45 - 14:45

A Roundtable that will bring together high-level government officials, development organizations and industry professionals to mobilize investments in fertilizer and soil health by contributing to the roadmap to a stronger Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism, and securing African government commitments to implement supportive policies.

Side Event 3: Advancing the Food Systems for Africa through the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) and the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS)

Time: 15:00 - 16:00

Discussions will focus on facilitating dialogue and collaboration between the African Development Bank and the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACs), highlighting the role of the VACS and the African Development Bank, particularly TAAT, in advancing Africa's food systems.

The Africa Food Systems Forum Annual Summit will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from September 2 to 6, 2024. Focused on innovation, acceleration, and scaling in a digital and climate-vulnerable world, the Summit aims to assess progress and reinforce commitments for transforming Africa's food systems.
