Uganda: Chicken Tonight Tastefully Reincarnates

9 September 2024

Chicken Tonight, once the preferred dining spot for young couples, has successfully navigated the competitive food business by going back to basics - offering something for everyone.

Previously known as one of the priciest fast-food joints around Makerere University and its environs, Chicken Tonight has reinvented

itself to cater to a broader clientele. Today, it boasts both some of the cheapest and most expensive items on its menu, allowing customers to choose based on their budget.

Whether you are on a tight budget or willing to splurge, Chicken Tonight has you covered. Their menu even accommodates varying appetites, with items marked 'M' for medium portions and 'L' for large.

For as little as Shs 5,000, you can enjoy a simple katogo with groundnuts, while those looking for something more substantial can opt for rice and liver priced at Shs 19,000.

The local and combo delight sections of their menu could easily be dubbed the "Katogo Delight," since the katogo is paired with just about anything at Shs 13,000 for medium portions.

The meals are straightforward, with nothing overly fancy about them. The well-simmered groundnut sauce adds a touch of a home-cooked meal. The pilau may not be exceptional, but at that price point, it offers good value for money, making it a reliable option for getting through the day.
