Zimbabwe: Alarm As Land Barons Unleash Terror On Environmental Activists

The Network for Environmental and Climate Justice has noted a growing trend of terror against environmental activists in Harare.

This wave of terror is being unleashed by land barons boasting of political connections.

These land barons continue to invade open spaces and Harare's wetlands sometimes with impunity.

The invasions are occurring in Harare's low and high density suburbs.

The NECJ received a similar threat from a unanimous caller following publication of a story on X exposing developments on a wetland in Borrowdale.

We however remain committed to our work to protect the environment and call upon authorities to ensure effective implementation of the law.

The NECJ has alerted its community mobilises to be on high alert and exercise caution in the implementation of our programmes.
