7 October 2024

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, conducted an inspection on Monday to oversee preparations for the 62nd Independence Day parade.

The parade will be held at Busikho Teachers Demonstration Primary School in Busia District on October 9th, marking a significant national celebration.

The event, which will be presided over by President Museveni, is expected to draw nationwide attention.

Gen Muhoozi's visit was part of the UPDF's efforts to ensure that all aspects of the parade are in line with the high standards expected for such an important occasion.

During his inspection, Gen Muhoozi praised the parade participants for their dedication, particularly commending their incorporation of new marching techniques and military songs.

He expressed his satisfaction with the parade band's mastery of the songs and encouraged them to maintain excellence throughout the performance.

The CDF emphasized that precision, discipline, and neatness are essential qualities that reflect the professionalism of the UPDF.

Several dignitaries attended the inspection, including local Members of Parliament, community leaders, and senior military officers such as Maj Gen Don Nabasa, Commander of the 3rd Division.

Representatives from the Uganda Police Force and Uganda Prisons Service also participated in the parade review, symbolizing the collaborative security efforts behind the Independence Day preparations.

The decision to hold the event in Busia District, which borders Kenya, underscores Uganda's commitment to national unity and highlights the importance of including border regions in major national celebrations.
