The Launch of the Africa Gender Index 2023 Report

What: The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) invite the press to the launch of the 2023 Africa Gender Index Report in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The event will be held on the sidelines of the Africa Pre-Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) Consultation on the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Why: The 2023 African Gender Index assesses the status of women and girls in 54 African countries, focusing on their position in society, the economy and political leadership. It measures progress made and pinpoints areas needing urgent action to close the gender gap.

The cutting-edge index equips African countries with critical data to monitor and fast-track efforts towards achieving gender equality and empowering women in every aspect of life.

Who: Experts from AfDB and ECA will address the press conference and take questions from the journalists in attendance.

When: Friday, 1 November 2024 from 5.30 pm- 6 pm, East Africa Time.

Where: UNCC Press Conference Room, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
