Uganda: Thugs Steal Property Worth Shs9m From Hoima Church

Police in Hoima city have started the hunt for unidentified thugs who raided Bujumbura Catholic diocese and broke into several offices walking away with seven laptops and money.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson confirmed that the incident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday at around 1am.

Despite Bujumbura Catholic diocese being holy, thugs raised the cathedral offices and gained entry into nine offices after breaking doors and walked away with seven laptops, 20 Mobile phones and shs 9 million.

Julius Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson says, by the time of the incident the cathedral was being guarded by Anka security services who have since been arrested to aid police in investigations.

"The arrested has been identified as Asuman Abigaba 43, and Job Isaac 36, who have since been taken to Hoima City Central police station to help us into our investigations, once we get information from them about how the incident happened, we will update the country on the same" Hakiza said

Hakiza notes that a team of flying squad operatives was promptly dispatched to the area to kick-start investigations.

"The area has close circuit television (CCTV) but unfortunately these were tampered with by the thugs, of now no clear footage can be viewed after the incident but our teams are on ground to ascertain what exactly happened " he noted
