Kabale District Engineer, Eng. Januario Turinawe Bagamuhunda, has urged the central government to boost the road maintenance fund allocation to the district. This comes amid concerns about the extensive road network requiring urgent attention.
Eng. Bagamuhunda made the appeal during a road assessment exercise in Ndorwa East Constituency.
The activity, spearheaded by the District Roads Committee, saw Kabale Members of Parliament join efforts to evaluate the condition of roads across the district.
"Kabale District has a vast road network that is critical for connectivity and economic activities. However, the current funding is insufficient to address maintenance needs. We urge the government to increase allocations for better service delivery."
The monitoring exercise revealed several challenges, including poorly maintained roads that hinder access to key services and economic opportunities.
"The state of our roads affects farmers, traders, and students. We hope the government listens to these concerns."
Kabale District remains a vital link in southwestern Uganda, and improved funding for road maintenance is expected to transform livelihoods in the region.
