Uganda: Museveni Promotes Wazalendo Sacco Leaders

Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society has announced the promotion of several senior officers and members of its Board of Directors.

The institution extended congratulations to the leaders on their promotions, recognising their dedication, expertise, and commitment to advancing Wazalendo's mission of financial empowerment.

The promotions include a mix of strategic roles spanning management, finance, compliance, technology, and operations.

The leaders recognised are:

Brigadier-General Joseph Freddy Onata

Promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General, Onata continues to serve as the Chief Executive of Wazalendo SACCO. Under his visionary leadership, Wazalendo has achieved significant milestones, including membership growth, financial stability, and innovative product offerings.

The announcement was celebrated, with Col Deo Akiiki, the UPDF deputy spokesperson, expressing his congratulations on X (formerly Twitter).

Colonel Allan Kitanda

Colonel Kitanda Now serving as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Colonel Kitanda brings strategic oversight and governance expertise to the institution.

His contributions have been instrumental in steering Wazalendo toward greater member satisfaction and operational excellence.

Colonel Banon Kato

As Director of Finance and Administration, Col Kato's promotion recognizes his pivotal role in ensuring robust financial management and operational efficiency within Wazalendo.

Colonel Yusuf Magero Buha

Elevated to Managing Director of Wazalendo Investments Ltd, Colonel Buha continues to spearhead strategic investments aimed at diversifying income streams and bolstering the cooperative's financial strength.

Lieutenant-Colonel Apollo Ahimbisibwe

Serving as Head of Risk and Compliance, Lt. Col. Ahimbisibwe's promotion underscores his dedication to ensuring regulatory adherence and mitigating institutional risks, safeguarding the interests of members.

Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Kwezi

Heading the Information and Communications Technology department, Lt Col Kwezi is at the forefront of Wazalendo's digital transformation agenda, enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.

Lieutenant-Colonel Julius Katanaka

As Head of Finance, Lt Col Katanaka plays a crucial role in ensuring sound financial planning and resource allocation, contributing to the cooperative's sustainability.
