Uganda: Kyabazinga Secures Landmark Collaboration With China's Top Polytechnic

21 November 2024

The Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, has successfully negotiated a groundbreaking partnership between five vocational institutions in Busoga and Shenyang Polytechnic College in China.

This collaboration aims to enhance skills development and address unemployment among Busoga's youth.

During a Zoom meeting on November 19, 2024, Dr. Mula Anthony, Director General of Busoga Consortium for Development, signed the cooperation agreement with Shenyang Polytechnic College's Vice President, Mr. Lyu Yiming.

The partnership is a direct result of His Majesty's July 2024 visit to Shenyang City, where he mobilized educational institutions and corporations to support Busoga's socio-economic transformation.

"This agreement is a great milestone towards addressing unemployment and innovation among Busoga's youth," Dr. Mula noted.

"We appreciate the Shenyang City People's Government for facilitating this cooperation as part of the Jinja City-Shenyang City partnership."

Mr. Lyu Yiming described Shenyang Polytechnic College as China's top electric and mechanical assessment institute, a national model for higher vocational education, and a leading constructor of high-level professionals.

The college offers specialized training in BMW car and aircraft production and assembly, with Ugandan students requiring a minimum Higher Secondary education certificate for admission.

The agreement is valid for three years, marking a significant step towards empowering Busoga's youth with cutting-edge skills.
