Uganda: Three Girls Raped in Mabira Forest While Collecting Firewood

Police in Njeru has embarked on a manhunt of unidentified man who raped three girls in Mabira.

It is alleged that on December 8th 2024, the suspect while at Matala area in Mabira forest Njeru Municipality found three girls aged between 11 to 13 years while collecting firewood, he arrested them claiming to be a forest guard.

He then tied the minors with ropes and sexually molested them.

According to Ssezibwa region Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto, the man was dressed in civilian clothes.

"While at the forest at Matala area they were arrested by un identified man dressed in civilian clothes claiming to be an Askari guarding the forest claiming that the victims were illegally in the forest on a Sunday. He then tied the victims threatening to take them to police and demanded telephone contacts of their parents in order to send him money for their rescue thereafter he defiled the girls and thereafter ordered them to go back home" Butoto said

She says a case of defilement was registered on Sunday December 8th 2024 by parents of the minors.

"When they reached home the minors narrated what happened to them and the parents proceeded to report the matter to CPS Njeru" she said

Butoto says Police has embarked on a manhunt for the man who molested the minors.
