The Imo State Council for Arts and Culture, ISCAC, has collaborated with the organizers of the Village Arts and Film Festival, VILLAFFEST, for its 5th edition, scheduled to hold from December 18 to 20 at Rockview Hotel, Owerri.
The two-days festival with the theme, "The Africa I Envision" will also witness the launch of the Imo State chapter of Nollywood's Guild of Elite Motion Picture Creators, GEMPC, during the opening ceremony of the festival.
This year's edition is expected to provide enlightening information for the promotion and preservation of African cultures and heritage as the culture is speedily going into extinction due to westernization.
According to the founder, Ichie Ihemba Kelechi Eke, the festival will showcase displays of crafts and performances in the area of art exhibitions, film screening, pageantry and cultural performances.
"Young undergraduate artists across campuses in the state, will be displaying art works in a competitive stand and winners will go home with juicy prizes and scholarships while the pageantry aspect of the event will usher in a new face of our organization ranging from Miss Villaffest, to Miss Culture Villaffest among others and prizes will be given for the emerging winners,' Eke added,
Besides, there will also be cultural dances and displays from different Local Government areas in the state, including neighboring states. The aim, according to founder, is to showcase the people's unique cultures and promote cultural exchanges among the Nigerian-African society at large,
Expected to grace the festivals are government officials, filmmakers within and outside the shores of the country, traditional rulers among other personalities. The grand finale will be hosted by veteran actress, Ogechi Obilonu (Nwanyi Owerri).
