Former Executive Director of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Allen Kagina, alongside the former board chair, directors, and senior managers, have handed over offices and assets of the former National Roads Authority to the Minister of State for Works, Musa Echweru.
This development marks the final step in the transition process following the repeal of the Uganda National Roads Authority Act and the integration of its functions into the Ministry of Works and Transport.
"Having fully served its purpose, I am retiring the handle @UNRA_ED. It has been 9 years and 8 months of fruitful engagement on this platform... adieu," Kagina tweeted, signaling the end of an era.
The handover ceremony was a testament to the seamless transfer of office and services, ensuring continued safe, efficient, and reliable transport services.
Kagina's leadership at UNRA spanned nine years, during which she oversaw significant transformations in the authority.
As the transport sector enters this new phase, stakeholders are optimistic about the prospects for improved service delivery and infrastructure development.
With the Ministry of Works and Transport now overseeing the functions of the former UNRA, the stage is set for enhanced coordination and efficiency in the sector.
