South Africa will participate in the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d'Ivoire 2025 having joined COSAFA finalists Zambia and Angola as representatives of the region.
This comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) extended the number of participating nations in the continental showpiece to 16 countries from the initial 12.
South Africa had narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 15th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF U17 AFCON after falling short to Zambia in the COSAFA Championships semi-finals, which were played in December 2024.
But when CAF opened up an additional spot, they were deemed the third best team at the regional finals and earn their place.
The 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from 30 March - 19 April 2025 where 10 African nations will book a ticket to the expanded 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in November 2025.
The draw for the 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations is yet to take place to determine which group South Africa will be placed in.
