Uganda: Muhoozi Applauds UPDF for Discipline, Precision in National Parades

17 February 2025

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, has praised commanders and participants for their role in the Liberation Day parade in Mubende and the Tarehe Sita celebrations in Kyotera.

He commended them for their exceptional discipline and professionalism.

Speaking at a luncheon held to honor the participants, Gen Kainerugaba commended the team for their high standards, noting that their precision and unity had earned widespread admiration from Ugandans on social media.

He described military parades as more than just ceremonial displays, emphasizing their role in demonstrating military readiness and discipline.

"The way a force presents itself in a parade is a reflection of its discipline and capability. These parades reaffirm the Uganda People's Defence Forces' (UPDF) commitment to safeguarding the nation," Gen Kainerugaba stated.

In his remarks, he announced that the CDF Inter-Forces Drill Competitions recently launched to enhance military drill skills would be held annually to ensure continuous improvement in parade maneuvers.

He encouraged participants to embrace the initiative as a platform for professional growth and teamwork.

Senior military officials, including Maj Gen BD Mugisha, praised the CDF for introducing transformative changes that have enhanced the quality and organization of military parades.

Col Justus Nsereko, the parade commander from the Air Force, welcomed the inclusive approach, noting that under Gen Kainerugaba's leadership, all branches of the UPDF now actively participate in national parades.

This marks the second time Gen Kainerugaba has hosted parade participants, following a similar event for those who took part in the Independence Day celebrations last year.
