South Africa: Swift Response By Police Led to the Recovery of Ammunition, Magazines and Explosives

NELSPRUIT - The Police in Vaalbank acted on a tip-off about a bag containing some ammunition as well as empty magazines around a certain yard in a place called Koedoespoort area.

Police officers immediately went to the scene and it was upon their arrival when they found a bag hidden underneath some woods. When checking inside the bag, the men and women in Blue came across about 341 rounds of ammunition for a shotgun, as well as about 11 empty magazines for 9 mm pistol. If that was not enough, the astute members also found one magazine for a rifle and two explosive devices and one explosive booster.

Though there was no one found in the yard during the time when members were at the premises, the investigation is underway to get hold of the suspects thereof. For now, no one has been made as yet. An enquiry has been opened for further investigation.

Police urge anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of suspect(s) to contact the nearest Police Station. Alternatively, community members can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr.) Zeph Mkhwanazi has commended the community members for working their continued support to Police's effort in crime fighting. The General further commended members of the Police for their swift response General.
