At least two students died on the spot in a fatal accident on Adjumani-Omi road Sunday evening while another is battling for his life at Lacor Hospital in Gulu City.

The deceased have been identified as Godfrey Ingavure and Emmanuel Adibaku, both Senior Two students of Alere Secondary School in Adjumani District.

According to witnesses, the three students were returning to school after participating in an ongoing ball game competition in Adjumani Town Council when the motorcycle they were riding collided with an oncoming vehicle, registration number UAQ 497J.

Police visited the accident scene and transported the bodies to Adjumani General Hospital for a postmortem.

A recent police report indicates that at least 26 people have died, while 71 others sustained severe and minor injuries in road traffic accidents in Adjumani District over the past eight months.

According to the report, reckless driving, speeding, drunk driving, and disregard for road signs are the leading causes of these accidents.
