The African Development Bank, in collaboration with the government of Benin, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Service Center for Africa, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is organizing a High-Level Regional Dialogue on Public Finance Systems in Africa, with the Theme "Modernizing Accountability and Transparency in Public Finance Systems in Africa."
The #PublicFinanceDialogue will take place in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on March 25 and 26, 2025, bringing together experts and stakeholders from government, regional organisations, development partners, civil society, and academia.
Over the two days, the Dialogue sessions will explore how African governments can promote transparency and accountability, leverage innovative policies and technology to better manage public expenditures and debt, improve citizen engagement in budgeting and public finance, ramp up domestic resource mobilization through reforms in tax administration, improve debt management and tackle illicit financial flows.
Speakers will include Romuald Wadagni, Benin's Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Cooperation; Ms Adam Soulé Zoumarou, Benin's Minister of Digital Economy and Innovation; Mohamed Boussaid, Former Minister of Economy and Finance of Morocco; Seth Tekper, former Minister of Finance of Ghana; Titus Osundina, Resident Representative of the UNDP in Benin; Dr. Patrick Ndzana Olomo, Head of the African Union's Economic Policy and Sustainable Development Division; and Dr Eric Kehinde Ogunleye, Director of the African Development Bank Group's African Development Institute.
