On the sidelines of its 2025 Annual Meetings, the African Development Bank Group will host a thematic knowledge-sharing event under the theme: Building Effective Institutions in Africa to Harness the Continent's Capital for Development.
Scheduled for Friday, 30 May at 09:00 - 10:45 GMT, the event will explore how Africa can enhance its institutions and governance to effectively mobilize capital for inclusive growth and sustainable development. It will offer African countries a platform for peer learning and facilitate dialogue among the Bank's governors and other stakeholders on the importance of economic governance in financing development.
The program will also allow participants to showcase innovative approaches that support the implementation of institutional frameworks, reinforcing the rule of law and governance in the utilisation of African capital. It will help African countries to identify the institutional structures and reforms necessary to better mobilise capital for the continent's development.
Ms. Arunma Oteh of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, is expected to moderate the discussions and set the stage for two high-level panels comprising government ministers, Bank governors, officials from multilateral development institutions, and private sector representatives.

- Dr. Ryadh M. Alkhareif, Deputy Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee, and Bank Governor for Saudi Arabia
- Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Governor for Germany
- H.E Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, Minister of Finance and Development Planning and Governor for Liberia
- Heidy Rombouts, Director General, Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid - Belgium
- Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa-CDC)
- Mr. Mamadou Biteye, Executive Secretary, African Capacity Building Foundation
- Dr. Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive, Zenith Bank Plc
