Uganda: Rotary International President-Elect Mário César Martins De Camargo Resigns Ahead of Term

Mário César Martins de Camargo, the 2025-26 Rotary International President-elect, has officially stepped down from his role, citing personal reasons and professional obligations.

A longtime member of the Rotary Club of Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil, de Camargo informed Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick of his decision in a letter dated June 8.

Though stepping away from the presidency, de Camargo emphasised his ongoing commitment to the Rotary mission and his intent to remain an active member serving his community.

De Camargo, who joined Rotary in 1980, was selected by the Nominating Committee for President in August 2023. His nomination was a significant point of pride for Brazilian Rotarians, recognising his four and a half decades of dedicated service.

"We greatly appreciate Mário's 45 years of leadership and service to our organisation and the tremendous pride his nomination created among Brazilian Rotary members," said President Urchick in a letter to all Rotary members.

"I am certain that Mário will leverage his experience and will continue to contribute to the growth of Rotary in Brazil and around the world. We wish Mário and Denise well."

Professionally, de Camargo led Gráfica Bandeirantes, a printing company, and has served as a consultant and leader in Brazil's print industry. He has also been an integral supporter of Casa da Esperança (House of Hope), a Rotary-sponsored medical center in Santo André that serves over 200,000 patients annually.

The Rotary International Board of Directors will convene soon to determine the next steps in selecting a new president for the 2025-26 term.
