African Union Commission Extends Condolences Following Air India Flight 171 Tragedy

The African Union Commission expresses its profound sorrow and deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of India, and to all other nations affected, following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 earlier today, which has claimed the lives of at least 204 individuals.

On behalf of the Commission and the peoples of Africa, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf extends heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and all those impacted by this devastating incident.

The Chairperson is deeply saddened by the significant loss of life, including many Indian nationals as well as citizens of other countries, and affirms that his thoughts and prayers are with all the families grieving the loss of their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy.

In this period of national mourning, the African Union Commission stands in full solidarity with the people of India and all nations affected.

The African Union remains committed to fostering strong bonds of friendship and support with the Government and people of India during this difficult time.
