Uganda: Kenya Air Force Officers Killed in Training Aircraft Crash

Two Kenya Air Force officers were killed on June 14, 2025, after their training aircraft crashed in Viramboni village, Kinango area, Kwale County.

Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde confirmed the incident, saying a comprehensive investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The aircraft, a Grob 120A fixed-wing trainer, had taken off from Moi Air Base in Mombasa and lost contact with radar less than half an hour later.

A joint team of military and local security personnel responded quickly to the crash scene and secured the area to facilitate investigations.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have not yet issued an official statement.

The identities of the two deceased officers have not been made public, pending notification of their next of kin.

The crash occurred during what officials described as a routine training mission. Residents of the area have been asked to keep away from the site as military crash investigators conduct their work.
