Nairobi — Schneider Electric has marked ten years of operations in Kenya, highlighting a decade of activity in local manufacturing, vocational training, energy access, and digital infrastructure.
The company entered the Kenyan market in 2014. Over the past decade, it has worked with public and private sector partners to support local assembly of electrical components, provide skills training through vocational institutions, and expand digital infrastructure in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and data management.
As part of its vocational training initiatives, Schneider Electric has partnered with 32 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across East Africa. Over 25,000 students have been trained in electrical and automation technologies. In Nairobi, the company helped establish a Centre of Excellence at PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute, focused on hands-on training in renewable energy systems.
In the manufacturing sector, Schneider Electric has supported local assembly of electrical switchboard enclosures through its partners. These products are used in industrial facilities, data centers, and public infrastructure projects.

The company has also deployed off-grid energy systems in healthcare facilities, including dispensaries in Kisii County. According to local data, access to more reliable electricity in these clinics has contributed to improved maternal health outcomes.
In the data infrastructure space, Schneider Electric partnered with IXAfrica to supply equipment for NBOX1, a Tier 3+ data center located in Nairobi. The facility supports advanced computing workloads and is positioned as one of East Africa's major digital infrastructure projects.
Schneider Electric has also implemented smart building and industrial automation technologies in several commercial and utility sectors through its EcoStruxure platform.
The company's next phase of operations is expected to focus on continued investment in skills development, local manufacturing partnerships, and support for digital infrastructure.
