Namibia: Namwater Alerts Public of Recruitment Scam

The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has cautioned the public of an online recruitment scam falsely using its name to advertise vacancies under the heading "NAMWATER LTD 2025 Recruitment."

The fraudulent message reads: "The Namibia Water Corporation (NAMWATER LTD) has opened its online application portal to recruit new staff to fill in various open positions. Recruitment is ongoing. Click the link below to apply: https://namwater.gistplug.info/".

In addition to the false job advertisement, the scam further instructs applicants to share the recruitment link to five WhatsApp groups or send it to 15 WhatsApp friends in order to complete their application.

NamWater has stated that it would never request or require any applicant to share job links via WhatsApp or any other social media platforms as part of the application process.

"NamWater strongly distances itself from this scam and cautions all customers, job seekers, and stakeholders not to engage with or respond to such fraudulent activities. The corporation does not make use of third-party recruitment portals or agencies to advertise or process job applications," the national water utility stated.

It added that all official NamWater vacancies are published exclusively on the NamWater website: https://namwater.erecruit.co/.

"We urge the public to remain vigilant, not to provide personal information, and not to make any payments to individuals or platforms claiming to represent NamWater through unauthorised recruitment processes," the corporation wrote.

"NamWater remains committed to safeguarding its reputation and ensuring the integrity of its operations. We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the fraudulent use of our name and branding," the statement added.
