Namibia: Three Killed in Head-On Crash On Windhoek-Gobabis Road

Three people lost their lives in a head-on collision near Seeis east of Windhoek on Saturday afternoon.

The fatal crash occurred at around 14h15 on the B6 road, approximately seven kilometres from Seeis in the direction of Gobabis.

According to the Namibian Police, the driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling from Windhoek towards the east allegedly attempted to overtake a lorry when the SUV collided head-on with a sedan vehicle heading west from Gobabis.

All three occupants of the sedan, including the 44-year-old driver, died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, aged 34, and two passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to a police mortuary, and the next of kin of two of the deceased have been informed.

Police spokesperson inspector Elifas Kuwinga urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.

"We appeal to all drivers to be patient and avoid dangerous overtaking, especially on busy highways. This tragic loss of life could have been prevented," Kuwinga said.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
