Somalia's President Offers Condolences Following Death of Jubbaland Deputy Leader

Mogadishu, June 28, 2025 — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Saturday extended his condolences over the death of Suldaan Abdiqadir Haji Mohamud, the Second Vice President of the Jubbaland State Government.

In an official statement released from Villa Somalia, President Mohamud hailed the late regional leader for his significant contributions to peacebuilding, national unity, and state formation processes in southern Somalia.

"Suldaan Abdiqadir was a committed public servant who played a vital role in advancing reconciliation efforts and strengthening governance in Jubbaland," the president said. "His passing is a great loss not only to his family and the people of Jubbaland, but to the entire Somali nation."

The president offered his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives, and the Jubbaland community, and prayed for the deceased's soul to be granted Jannatul Firdows (the highest level of Paradise). He also called for patience and faith for the family and the Somali people during this time of mourning.

The late Suldaan Abdiqadir held various leadership roles in Jubbaland and was known for his grassroots influence and active participation in regional development and reconciliation efforts.

No details were immediately released about the cause of death.
