Uganda: NRM Boasts of Unity, Mocks Disorganised Opposition Ahead of 2026 Polls

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has lashed out at opposition parties, accusing them of lacking organisation and clear political direction, as Uganda inches closer to the 2026 general elections.

Speaking during a meeting with NRM aspirants in Kassanda District, the party's Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja, said while the opposition remains divided and uncertain about its leadership, the NRM is entering the political season with renewed strength and unity.

"The opposition is still struggling with internal wrangles and has no clear roadmap. Meanwhile, the NRM is organised, united, and ready to secure victory in the upcoming elections," Namayanja stated.

She urged party supporters to maintain discipline and cohesion as they engage in grassroots mobilisation, emphasising that unity within the party structures remains key to consolidating the NRM's political dominance.

Namayanja's remarks come at a time when several opposition groups have been embroiled in internal disagreements over leadership, alliances, and election strategies.

The NRM, which has been in power for nearly four decades, is already rolling out its roadmap for the next elections, focusing on strengthening party structures and engaging communities.

The meeting in Kassanda attracted aspiring candidates, local leaders, and party supporters from across the district.
