President Museveni has taken a swipe at opposition politicians, especially Members of Parliament whom he described as self-seekers.
Speaking during a rally at Wampeewo Playgrounds in Wakiso district at the start of his Parish Development Model assessment and wealth creation tour on Monday, Museveni said instead of speaking about problems affecting their constituents, opposition MPs only focus on issues where they benefit.
"When election time comes, please vote out these opposition people. They are betrayers who don't care about you," he said, accusing the opposition of focusing more on their salaries than on serving their constituents.
"You're praising Gen. Ddamulira( Crime Intelligence Director) and Major (Emma) Kuteesa for following up your issues, but what about your MPs? They're just enjoying salaries without serving you."

He urged voters to elect leaders committed to their communities, stating, "The Baganda have a saying, 'Omuggo oguli ku muliraano tegugoba ngo' (The stick next door cannot chase away a tiger for you). I support you at national level, but you also need proactive local leaders."
The president urged residents to focus on wealth creation, noting that it makes no sense having good infrastructure when the people are poor.
He urged residents to actively engage in income-generating activities as a sustainable way to eradicate poverty.
"If you are living in Kampala and you don't want to work in a factory, then do something productive that you can sell to others. These workers in the factories buy milk, meat, food, and other products. So, you can either work in the factory or supply the factories. That is why we have been sending you money all these years and cautioning you not to be diverted by what they call tarmac roads. These developments are for all of us, but individual wealth creation is your responsibility," President Museveni said.
He also reiterated that the more important aspect is ensuring that citizens utilize available resources to create wealth.
