Uganda: Over 10,000 Diners Turn Out for This Year's Kampala Restaurant Week

The 2025 edition of Kampala Restaurant Week closed on a high note, attracting more than 10,000 diners across 30 participating restaurants in a 10-day celebration of culinary innovation, culture, and community.

Now in its ninth year, the city's premier dining event once again spotlighted Kampala's growing reputation as a food capital in East Africa. From casual meals at The Local in Kyanja to upscale lunches at La Patisserie, diners explored curated menus blending reimagined Ugandan staples with global flavors, all offered at accessible price points.

"Together with our restaurant partners, we curated a memorable culinary journey that highlighted the creativity and diversity within Kampala's dining scene," said Isaac Langoli, Project Manager at The Pearl Guide.

"The new digital Foodie Passport also added a fun and rewarding twist, helping us track over 10,000 dining experiences."

Participating restaurants included top names like Explorer Restaurant at Kampala Serena Hotel, Yujo Izakaya, Aldea, Tamarai, The Aleph, Molecule, Golden Hill, Tehila's, The Hickory, and Latitude 0, among others.

While most venues impressed, organizers acknowledged that a few restaurants fell short of expectations. Langoli emphasized that guest feedback will play a crucial role in shaping future editions.

"Every year offers a learning curve, and we're committed to ensuring each edition gets better for our diners and partners alike," he said.

As Kampala's hospitality scene continues to thrive, Kampala Restaurant Week stands as a vibrant showcase of the city's evolving tastes, bold chefs, and passion for food as a unifying experience.

The event has become more than just a food festival--it's a celebration of creativity, culture, and connection in one of East Africa's fastest-growing culinary destinations.
