The Buganda Kingdom, through its Ministry of Education, has officially released the 2025 mock examinations for Primary Seven (P.7), Primary Six (P.6), and Primary Four (P.4) learners.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Buganda Examinations Council, aims to bolster academic performance and prepare learners for their final national assessments
.While presiding over the handover ceremony at Bulange-Mengo, Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko, the Kingdom's Minister for Education, raised concern over the increasing number of school dropouts, blaming the trend on ineffective teaching methods.
She emphasised that when learners are not adequately prepared, they tend to underperform, leading to discouragement and eventual loss of interest in education.

"We believe that these mock examinations will help learners evaluate their understanding of various subjects while also helping teachers identify learning gaps," said Nakate. "This is part of Buganda's strategic goal to promote quality education across the region."
The Minister reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to its ninth strategic development goal, which focuses on enhancing education quality in Buganda. She also called upon schools to intensify the teaching of Luganda, noting that language is key to cultural preservation and contributes to better comprehension among learners.
Mr. Godfrey Nviiri, the Secretary of the Buganda Examinations Council, assured educators and parents that the entire examination process adhered to professional standards -- from content development to expert consultation and quality control.
"We have taken every step to ensure these exams meet the highest academic standards," said Mr. Nviiri. "We urge all teachers to responsibly guide their learners through these papers and maintain professional conduct throughout the process."
Representing the Chairperson of the Buganda Examinations Council Board, Mr. Ndugwa Badru Musoke praised all stakeholders involved in preparing and reviewing the mock examinations.
He reiterated that the papers were crafted with precision and encouraged schools to follow the official exam timetable to ensure uniformity and fairness.
Several school heads in attendance commended the Kingdom's efforts, noting that the mock exams have significantly enhanced learners' confidence and preparedness for national assessments.
They called for continued support and collaboration from the Kingdom in advancing academic excellence in Buganda.
