The African Center for Economic Transformation, in partnership with the Global Strategic Communications Council, will host a special virtual edition of the African Transformation Briefing focused on the 17th replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-17). This media-focused session will explore how the Fund continues to deliver catalytic, concessional financing tailored to Africa's evolving development priorities in an increasingly complex global environment.

The event will feature Valerie Dabady, Division Manager for Resource Mobilization and Partnerships at the African Development Bank, who will outline the Fund's strategic direction, share recent development results, and explore the significance of a robust ADF-17 replenishment for advancing Africa's transformation agenda.

In an era of global fiscal constraints, the African Development Fund remains a cornerstone of Africa's development financing architecture, channeling concessional resources to 37 of the continent's most vulnerable countries. These resources support critical investments in infrastructure, climate resilience, human development, and institutional capacity.

ADF-17 comes at a critical moment. As countries advance recovery efforts and deepen regional integration, this replenishment round offers a key opportunity to scale the Fund's impact and reaffirm Africa's leadership in shaping its development pathway.

This 90-minute session will:

  • Equip journalists and development partners with up-to-date insights on ADF-17 priorities and positioning;
  • Demonstrate the Fund's leverage model and proven track record in delivering transformative results;
  • Highlight success stories from past replenishment cycles, including achievements in energy, health, water, and connectivity;
  • Explore strategies to mobilize coalitions in support of Africa-led financing mechanisms.
