North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, said Acila managed to raise an alarm during the assault.

"His elder brother, Patrick Bua, 46, responded to the cries and reportedly witnessed the attackers fleeing the scene," he explained.

The incident was initially reported to the LC1 chairperson of Arok Village before being escalated to Kamdini Town Council Police Station, where a murder case was registered.

A team of detectives led by the Officer in Charge of Kamdini Town Council Police Station visited the crime scene, recovering several exhibits including a panga, locally made spears, and blood samples.

The deceased was found with multiple deep cuts to the head and other parts of his body. He was dressed in a white short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and gumboots. His body was taken to Anyeke Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.

In a recent development, the prime suspect, Otim Patrick, voluntarily surrendered to Kole Police Station and has since been transferred to Oyam Central Police Station for further investigations.

SP Okema confirmed that efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing and urged the public to cooperate with police to ensure justice is served.
