Uganda Airlines officials have come under intense scrutiny from the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE) over allegations of irregular procurement practices.
The officials were summoned to appear before the committee to respond to queries raised in the Auditor General's report for the 2023/2024 financial year.
Led by Chairperson Medard Lubega Ssegona, COSASE expressed frustration when the officials failed to attend the scheduled 9an meeting.

"We waited for two hours, and it's unfortunate that the officials didn't deem it fit to inform us about their absence," Ssegona said, criticizing what he described as a lack of regard for the committee's time.
The committee's focus is on the procurement of four CRJ900 aircraft from a company that has since closed, leaving Uganda Airlines struggling to access spare parts.
Sseggona emphasized that officials must provide a clear explanation for the decision.
"We have issued fresh summons to Accounting Officer Jenifer Bamuturaki and former Accounting Officer Ephraim Bagyenda, compelling them to appear before the committee on Wednesday at 9am sharp. Failure to comply will force us to invoke our rules of procedure," he warned.
In a twist, the officials eventually appeared at midday, apologizing for the confusion and attributing their late arrival to a communication gap regarding the meeting schedule.
COSASE says its investigation aims to shed light on the procurement process and determine accountability for financial decisions made by Uganda Airlines.
