Uganda: PSTLM&E Cracks Down On Land Fraudsters, Warns Public of Fake Titles

21 August 2025

The Presidential Social Taskforce on Land Matters and Environment (PSTLM&E) has identified high-ranking government officials as key perpetrators of land-related problems. According to IP Nyegenye Stephen, Community Liaison Officer, PSTLM&E, these officials often clash with agencies and committees tasked with addressing land issues.

Speaking on the Salam Omukeeze Show, hosted by Twaha Mukiibi, IP Nyegenye emphasized the task force's commitment to community policing in land matters. "We urge the public to be vigilant and aware of fraudsters," he said.

Jamiru Ssempagala, Head of Operations, PSTLM&E, emphasized that land administrators and heirs who fail to understand their roles as caretakers of the land often exacerbate land-related problems. He also warned the public about the prevalence of fake land titles, stressing the need for caution.

The PSTLM&E officials stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and the task force to tackle land-related challenges effectively. By working together, they aim to protect citizens' rights and promote responsible land management.
