25 August 2025

Police in Kampala have kicked off a manhunt for a private security guard who shot his boss dead and took off with an unspecified amount of money.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire identified the suspect as Hillary Byaruhanga, a security guard attached to Don World Security Limited and is currently on the run.

"It is alleged that Anthony Mutinisa, the proprietor of Mutinisa Motors Uganda was fatally shot by the security guard on Sunday. The security guard robbed the deceased's vehicle and a bag containing an unspecified amount of money," Owoyesigyire said of the incident that happened at Mutinisa's office located at Martyrs Way in Ntinda.

Oowyesigyire said police from Ntinda and Kira Road responded to the shooting and at the scene, the suspected killer gun was recovered with four rounds of ammunition.

Police say they are in touch with Don World Security Limited, the company that employed the suspect to help in the ongoing search for Byaruhanga.

"We condemned such an act. It is unfortunate that a security guard hired to protect took away the life of the person they were supposed to protect and rob them of their property," Owoyesigyire said.

Police urged members of the public to always do background checks on persons they employ but also supervise them thoroughly to see what they could be up to.
