The African Development Bank will host a farewell ceremony on 30 August 2025 at 16:00 to honor President Akinwumi A. Adesina as he concludes his presidency.

It will feature statements by staff and African leaders commending the Bank's progress under his tenure.

The event will also feature the unveiling of "Akinwumi A. Adesina: The Man, His Mandate, Mission and Message", a commemorative book documenting President Adesina's leadership journey.

Under Dr. Adesina's leadership the Bank grew its capital from $93 billion in 2015 to $318 billion and secured a record replenishment of $8.9 billion for the African Development Fund. The High 5 strategic priorities Adesina introduced have impacted the lives of over 565 million people across Africa, including connecting more than 28 million people to electricity.

The ceremony marks the transition to incoming President Dr. Sidi Ould Tah and ensures continuity in the Bank's mission to accelerate Africa's sustainable development and economic growth.
