13th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA-XIII), 5-7 September 2025
The 13th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will bring together governments, civil society, indigenous groups, youth, private sector actors, and researchers to advance African-led, evidence-based climate action aligned with the AU Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy (2022-2032).
Jointly organized by ClimDev-Africa, the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance and other partners, the CCDA-XIII event will serve as a technical platform ahead of the Second Africa Climate Summit.
Under the theme "Empowering Africa's Climate Action with Science, Finance, and Just Transition," CCDA-XIII aims to consolidate a shared, investment-ready climate agenda for the continent. Discussions will center on five priority areas: climate governance and institutional readiness; nature, technology, and climate intelligence; adaptation, resilience, loss and damage; climate finance; and equitable just transition.
The conference will promote locally led adaptation, nature-based and technology-driven solutions, stronger governance, and a shift in climate finance from aid to strategic investment, with the ultimate goal of boosting resilience, green growth, and Africa's negotiation power ahead of ACS2 and COP30.

Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2): 8 - 10 September 2025
The Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), convened by the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, will encourage varied stakeholders and empower them to promote climate action across different nations, communities, and economies.
At ACS2, the African Development Bank will maximize its presence as a regional leader on climate and development finance through a dynamic mix of hosted sessions, side events, and partnerships.
The Bank will operate a 100 m² pavilion as a hub for showcasing its climate portfolio, hosting bilateral meetings, and organizing side events. Key Bank pavilion sessions will highlight gender-responsive climate and energy solutions, results from Africa Climate Change Fund projects, Africa's circular economy agenda, the Africa Climate Risk Insurance Framework for Adaptation, and the Africa Adaptation Acceleration. The Bank will also co-host sessions with partners, including on harnessing nature-based solutions for urban resilience.
In addition to its pavilion program, the Bank has been invited by the Government of Ethiopia, host of ACS2, to play a leading role in several mandated high-level sessions on reforming global climate finance to serve Africa's priorities, trade and investment frameworks for resilience, leveraging fintech to close the adaptation gap, climate, mobility and security, and financing adaptation at scale.
