Uganda: The Local Expands to Bugolobi, Blending Comfort Dining With Community Spirit

2 September 2025

The Local, a neighbourhood café, cocktail bar, and restaurant renowned for its warm hospitality in Kyanja, has officially opened a new branch in Bugolobi.

The new space combines rustic wooden finishes with modern elegance, creating an inviting atmosphere designed for both casual meals and long evenings out.

Guests can expect familiar favourites from The Local's Kyanja menu, alongside new additions tailored to the Bugolobi setting. Offerings range from hearty breakfasts such as Katogo and stacked sandwiches to roasts, ribs, tacos, and a creative take on Uganda's iconic rolex.

The restaurant says its mission goes beyond food, aiming to create a sense of belonging for its patrons. From morning coffee to late-night cocktails, The Local hopes to turn neighbours into regulars and strangers into friends.

With its expansion to Bugolobi, The Local is positioning itself as more than just a dining spot -- but a hub for community, comfort, and connection.
