8 September 2025

The Mufti of Uganda,Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has urged Ugandans to uphold patriotism, elect leaders committed to development, and maintain peace as the country heads into national elections.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving ceremony at the ancestral home of Haj Kassim Mugerwa in Buyuka village, Buikwe Muslim District, the Mufti said the stability of Uganda depends on citizens making responsible political choices.

"I implore Ugandans to elect only patriots with clear developmental programs and to maintain peace during the election period," Mubaje stressed.

While emphasizing the role of faith in everyday life, he reminded Muslims to remain grateful to Almighty Allah as a way of attracting more blessings.

He drew lessons from Quranic teachings to warn against arrogance and urged believers to value even the smallest of God's favors.

The Mufti also addressed community issues, pledging support for efforts to establish a Muslim school in the area and encouraging Imams to register for the forthcoming Saccos backed by President Museveni.

Host Haj Mugerwa thanked the Mufti for honoring the invitation, saying the ceremony was meant to show gratitude to God for sustaining their family and enabling them to educate their children.
