The Kamuli Municipal Council nomination has registered a surge from opposition candidates getting nominated for the various leadership positions vowing to make regime changes from within.

Kamuli EC Returning Officer Kenneth Kayabwe nominated Twahiri Waiswa NUP, Ivan Kagoda Common man's Party,, Denis Kagabo and David Musasisizi independents alongside Fred Balinango NRM to contest for position of mayor

FDC District Coordinator and LCV candidate Francis Mutebe Tayoleke said opposition is fielding more candidates this time so as to influence decisions and cause regime change from within the leadership circles.

"We are here to exert pressure for change beginning at the lower levels where votes matter and building our system strength from the grassroots," Mutebe declared.

NUP candidate Twahiri Waiswa commended the electoral commission for being independent this time and giving the nomination exercise impartiality

"For the first time we (opposition) were handled with equal status, no hustle but easily handled as candidates for which we put our hats off to the EC for being impartial and independent and hop security will borrow a leaf from them during campaigns," Waiswa said after nomination.

Fred Balinango the NRM candidate called for mass votes to the ruling party challenging party members to pull and push together in the interests of the party.

"We should look beyond personal differences and camps and promote the party, have disciplined campaigns and respect each other so as to win or lose with dignity," he called.
