NAIROBI — Global storytelling nonprofit The Moth is set to return to Nairobi on November 1 for its sixth Mainstage event, hosted at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa's LRC Auditorium.
Themed "Daring to Hope," the evening will feature five storytellers sharing personal accounts of resilience, vulnerability, and courage. The event comes as Kenyans and many other communities worldwide navigate economic uncertainty, social pressures, and political change.
Founded in 1997, The Moth has staged more than 60,000 live stories worldwide, told without notes by people from different walks of life -- from astronauts and artists to parents, refugees, and activists. Each Mainstage is designed as a one-night-only performance with a unique mix of voices.
This year's Nairobi edition is part of 18 Mainstage events being held globally under a shared theme for the first time in The Moth's history. The organization says the approach is aimed at sparking a wider conversation across diverse audiences.
The Moth has a long-standing relationship with Kenya through its Global Community Program, which amplifies voices from the Global South. Nairobi first hosted a Mainstage six years ago and has since become a regular stop on the storytelling circuit.
The November event continues The Moth's effort to highlight African voices and challenge stereotypes that persist in international media coverage of the continent.
