Kenya: Park Fees to Rise After Parliament Approval

29 September 2025

Nairobi — Entry fees to Kenya's national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries will increase from October 1, 2025, following parliamentary approval of new regulations.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said Nairobi National Park charges for residents will rise from Sh430 to Sh1,000, while foreigners will pay $80 (Sh10,360), up from $43 (Sh5,570).

Premium parks such as Amboseli and Lake Nakuru will charge Sh1,500 for locals and Sh11,660 for international tourists. Mid-tier parks like Meru and Aberdare will cost Sh800 for locals and $70 (Sh9,070) for foreigners, while Hell's Gate fees will be Sh500.

Exemptions include licensed guides, porters, community guides, boat crew, children under five, senior citizens over 70, and persons with disabilities.

"KWS will honor all eCitizen payments made before this announcement and the revised fees will therefore apply only to new bookings made for October 1 onwards," said KWS Director General Prof. Erustus Kanga.
