Uganda: Namutumba Sub-County Boss Arrested Over Sexual Assault of Minor

30 September 2025

Police in Namutumba District have arrested Yunus Musaso, the chairperson of Kibaale Subcounty, over allegations of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on September 5, 2025.

The victim's mother reported the matter to Kibaale Police Post after her daughter disclosed the alleged assault the following day.

Authorities say the suspect was arrested, the scene was visited, and items of evidential value were recovered. Both the suspect and the victim underwent medical examination.

ASP Michael Kasadha, Busoga East police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, stating that further investigations are ongoing. The suspect will be arraigned in court once inquiries are complete.

Kasadha condemned the alleged act, describing it as "shameless" and especially troubling given that it was allegedly committed by a local leader expected to protect children.
